Jealousy and revenge led a woman to poison Easter egg, says police

Preliminary investigation of the Maranhão Civil Police points out that the poisoning of an Easter egg in the interior of Maranhão may have been caused by jealousy and revenge.

The chocolate was sent on Wednesday night (16) by Jordélia Pereira Barbosa, 35, to the house of a woman identified as Mirian Lira. Her 7 -year -old son died after eating Easter egg.

According to police, Mirian’s current boyfriend is former suspicion partner. He was heard by the police and his testimony was important to reach his wife and his arrest was made.

Along with the chocolate, there was a note with the message: “With love, to Mirian Lira. Happy Easter.” The mother and teenage sister of the dead boy are hospitalized in serious condition.

A video shows Jordélia disguised, wearing a wig, in a store where she bought the chocolate. The images were recorded on Wednesday afternoon (16), the same day the candy was delivered to the family home. Look:


Jordélia was arrested on the afternoon of last Thursday (17) on a long-term bus on her way to Santa Inês (MA), where she lives. With her, the police found the wig and glasses used such as disguise, shopping notes, cards, a counterfeit badge and a portion of chocolate flakes.

The investigation points out that Jordélia traveled from Santa Inês to Imperatriz with the objective of executing the plan, staying in a hotel during the short time in the city. Safety cameras images recorded the moment when she bought the Easter egg disguised with a wig.
