The singer MIYAVI is the last artist confirmed in the line-up of the Asia Star Festival, a Brazilian festival of Asian music. The event will have its first edition on July 7, 2023, at Espaço Unimed, in São Paulo, and will bring together artists from Japan, South Korea, Thailand and China.
Born Takamasa Ishihara, MIYAVI began his career in 1999 in the band Dué le Quartz. The guitarist left on a solo career after the band split in 2002. From then on, MIYAVI began to gain notoriety in Japanese rock and on the charts with singles such as “Pop Is Dead”, “Senor Senora Senorita” and “Selfish Love ”, which consecrated his characteristic style on the guitar.
The international career came at the time of the release of his sixth album, This Iz the Japanese Kabuki Rock, which mixed MIYAVI’s guitar with elements of traditional Japanese culture. In his more recent work, the “samurai guitarist” has brought influences from electronic music and English lyrics to his works.
In addition to being a musician, MIYAVI also has a career in cinema, in Japanese films such as the live-action version of the anime “Bleach”, in addition to American productions, such as “Invincible” and “Maleficent 2”, both in partnership with Angelina Jolie.
With 15 studio albums, several successful singles and a consolidated career as one of the main names in Japanese music, this will be MIYAVI’s sixth performance in Brazil.
MIYAVI will represent Japan at the Asia Star Festival, which will also feature Jeff Satur (Thailand), BOY STORY (China), 2Z, TRI.BE and CLASS:y (South Korea). In total, there will be six artists, in more than five hours of music in a single day of shows, with presentations of different musical genres, from pop to rock.
Ticket sales to the general public for the Asia Star Festival will be available from February 10th at 7pm on the Eventim website. Tickets will also be available from February 11th at the Espaço Unimed box office and at other Eventim points of sale, according to the opening hours of each location.
