Japanese ANA Boeing 737-800 returns to airport due to crack in window

A domestic flight from the Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) returned to the airport from which it had taken off this Saturday (13), after finding a crack in the cabin window of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft in mid-air, a company spokesperson said. .

Flight 1182 was headed to Toyama Airport but returned to Sapporo-New Chitose Airport after the crack was found on the outside of the four layers of windows surrounding the cabin, the spokesman said, adding that it was not there were injuries among the 59 passengers and six crew on board.

The plane was not one of Boeing's 737 MAX 9 aircraft. These were thrust into the spotlight after a piece of the aircraft's fuselage broke off mid-flight on an Alaska Airlines jet last week.

“The crack did not affect the control or pressurization of the flight,” said the ANA spokesperson.

The US aviation regulator extended on Friday (12) the blockade of Boeing's 737 MAX 9 planes indefinitely for further safety checks and announced that it will strengthen supervision of Boeing itself.
