Japan Airlines plane returned to airport after cockpit window cracked

A domestic flight of her All Nippon Airways (ANA) at Japan returned to the airport after reporting crack in the cockpit window.

In accordance with BBCflight NH1182 had departed from the city of Sapporo in Hokkaido to the city of Toyama on Japan's main island of Honshu when the incident occurred.

According to the same information, none of the passengers were injured.

A spokesman for ANA, Japan's largest airline, said that the crack was spotted as the flight passed over Hakodate. “It was not something that affected the control or pressure of the flightsaid the representative.

The plane headed back to the airport where a safe landing took place.

Expert John Strickland said the cause of the crack was still unknown: “These things happen sometimes, something might have hit the window, for example a bird, a large hailstorm, it's not unheard of.” “Sometimes it can happen because of pressure, from wear and tear” he added, “but that is very rare.”

In the aircraft 59 passengers and six crew members were on board.
