The Municipal Secretariat of Environment of Manicoré, in the interior of Amazonas, rescued two jaguar puppies in the São João community, in the rural area of the municipality, 347 km from Manaus.
The city hall confirmed on Monday (31) through its social networks.
The puppies were found by residents of the region and delivered to the responsible body.
The Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) was also notified of the rescue, and the forecast is to receive them next Wednesday (02) in Manaus for proper treatment and to prepare them for reintegration to nature.
According to the City Hall, the collaboration action between the local community and the environmental authorities was essential in this case for the preservation of threatened species and the protection of the region’s biodiversity.
