According to the press release, Block management is now working with a “leading semiconductor manufacturer” to finalize the chip design. Company representatives emphasized that this step will bring Block closer to its goal of supporting decentralized mining. The company will offer the sale of both chips themselves and full-fledged mining devices.
“We are starting full production. Our mining chip uses the most advanced semiconductor process technology to provide the performance that mining companies of all types need to survive and thrive in the fifth era of mining following the fourth halving,” the company said in a statement.
Late last year, Block introduced its own cryptocurrency hardware wallet, Bitkey.
