It’s official: Peppa Pig will have a little sister. Balloons broke out, pink confuses everywhere and a visibly confused but happy George: the great announcement came with a gender reveal worthy of a baby shower from Royal Family (animated version, of course).
Revelation is the culmination of weeks of waiting for fans – small and large – that since Mamma Pig announced that he was pregnant, last February, they question themselves who would be at home Pig. And now we know: it will be a female.
The event will be celebrated with a special online video on May 3 on the official YouTube channel of Peppa Pig, where Peppa and George – in small investigators – try to guess if she will be a little brother or little sister. Clue: there will be a pink explosion.
The new entry is a historical moment in the Peppa-Universe, which for twenty years has entertained children all over the world since its birth in 2004, Peppa has become a global icon: 180 countries, 40 languages, an avalanche of merchandising and at least three generations of parents who now automatically respond to each grunt.
With the arrival of the little sister, Peppa’s world is preparing for an inevitable evolution: new family balances, cartoon jealousies, and probably an avalanche of new episodes where Peppa will discover that being the older sister it does not always mean having the last word (but will try it anyway). Will the Bebé overshadow Peppa? We will see.
