“It’s absurd”: Taylor Swift fans complain about concert postponement at short notice

After singer Taylor Swift postponed this Saturday’s show (18) to next Monday (20), several of the artist’s fans criticized the decision, announced hours before the start of the performance.

The gaúchas from Porto Alegre, Úrsula and Bárbara, have a flight scheduled for Monday morning (20). With the show rescheduled for the same day, in the evening, mother and daughter don’t know if they will be able to attend the artist’s performance.

“Everyone here has been waiting for hours and she tells us just now. A lot of people in line are crying. It’s absurd”, said Úrsula.

“What hurt me the most is that if they didn’t want us to get sick, they could have warned us much earlier because everyone knew it would be one of the hottest days of the week,” said student Maria Clara Mendes.

Outside, Cristina Campos was waiting for her daughter to leave, who entered the Nilton Santos stadium as soon as the gates opened. After the announcement, the podiatrist criticized the lack of information.

“We got here early, we faced a lot of heat and now they have to cancel the show. Could it have been cancelled? Yes. But in the morning, not now that people have already entered and will need to return to their homes.”

Disappointment also gripped those who came from other states. Engineering analyst, Brenda Costa, from Belo Horizonte, recalled the logistics costs involved in coming to the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

“It’s hotel fees, tickets, jobs, college. I really didn’t understand why it was already getting fresh. Anyone who had to feel sick, in the heat, had already been through the worst times, between 12pm and 2pm.”

Jiulio and Alefe, from São Paulo, said they will not be able to attend the show on Monday and want a refund for their tickets.

“We can’t come on Monday. We have a trip planned. We will probably have to ask for a refund for the ticket”, lamented Alefe.

In a statement on her social media, singer Taylor Swift stated that the reason for the postponement was the heat, which this Saturday broke a new record of 43.8°C, the highest temperature recorded in Rio since 2008. The thermal sensation reached 59 .7°C.

On the artist’s first day of performance, young Ana Clara Benevides, aged 23, died after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest at the beginning of the show. The causes of death will be investigated by the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police.

In addition to the show rescheduled for next Monday (20), Taylor Swift will perform in Rio this Sunday, at 8:30 pm.
