Italy: “We will not raise taxes,” said Giorgia Meloni

In a short video that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni posted on her internet today, she referred to the state budget being drawn up. “These days I read statements that come from the imagination, according to which the government would like to increase the taxes paid by the citizens. They are lies,” the Italian prime minister stressed. “This is what left-wing governments did, we cut their taxes, as public and private employees, working women, freelancers know well,” added Meloni. “I want to be clear once again. The political culture of our government envisages reducing taxes and supporting families and businesses, not an additional burden on citizens,” the head of the Italian government concluded. The whole debate surrounding the new state budget took off after the statements of Italian Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti who, at the end of last week, said that “sacrifices will be needed from everyone” with “fair taxation of income and profits”.
