The prosecutor’s office in Turin has ordered the preventive seizure of seventy-four million euros, from the grandsons of the well-known industrialist and former owner of Fiat, Gianni Agnelli. The specific measure also concerns the tax expert Gianluca Ferrero (president of the Juventus team) as well as a Swiss notary public. The offenses referred to in this decision are tax fraud and fraud against the Italian public. According to the investigations so far, Switzerland was allegedly declared as the country of residence of Gianni Agnelli’s widow, Marella Caracciolo, due to a favorable legal framework. At the same time, significant sums were allegedly concealed by the Italian tax authorities. All these moves, prosecutors argue, favored the grandchildren of Caracciolo (who died in 2019) in terms of their inheritance rights over their mother, Margherita Agnelli, who decided to go to court.
