Her government Georgia Meloni approved on Thursday night (1/12) a decision based on which the Italy will continue her arms shipment to Ukraine throughout 2023, with the consent of the parliament and the senate. The relevant decision states that Italy will reinforce Ukraine with military equipment and other means.
Yesterday Wednesday, the Italian parliament decided that “the government of Rome should work in favor of promoting and supporting – in cooperation with its NATO partners – any diplomatic initiative aimed at creating the conditions for peace negotiations”.
Italy is the latest in a series of countries to announce that it continues to support Ukraine with the delivery of new weapons systems. Germany has promised a new shipment of Gepard anti-aircraft systems, while recently the Netherlands also approved the concession of more than 100 million euros in order to acquire new weapons. Canada has also taken similar actions, while the US continues to send military aid packages to Ukraine.
