The Italian authorities identified the man who carved his name and that of his partner on a wall of the Colosseum in Rome last week, provoking the wrath of the country for their lack of respect tourists.
As it became known, the man and his partner come from England. Italy’s Ministry of Culture expressed its greatest pleasure at finding them following an investigation by the Carabinieri.
The Italians have been looking for the man for days, especially after the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano declared that he should be punished exemplary. Reacting to the news of the identification, the minister said in a message on his Twitter account: “What he really did was an insult to those around the world who value archaeology, monuments and history”.
2/2 Ora auspico che la giustizia faccia il suo course applicando rigorosamente le leggi. Se si arriverà a un processo il Ministero della Cultura si constituità parte civile.

The tourist was captured in a video posted on social media last Friday (23/6) writing his name and his girlfriend’s name on an interior wall of the ancient Roman stone amphitheater with a key. He left the inscription “Ivan + Hayley 23”.
