The five relevant ministries of the Draghi government will hold a meeting tonight to address the water shortage that is causing serious problems in much of the country.

Regarding Italy’s largest river, Pados, today, it was decided to reduce the use of its water resources to irrigate northern Italy. It is a first “mild” restriction, so as not to affect the agricultural sector even more. Meanwhile, the levels of the Arno River in Tuscany and the Tiber River in Rome have dropped significantly.

At the same time, Nicolas Gingaretti, governor of Lazio (the greater area of ​​Rome) announced that he would declare his entire area of ​​responsibility in a state of emergency, so that all necessary measures are taken immediately to deal with the water shortage.

“Water use should be very careful, starting with households, because the situation is extremely difficult,” Gingaretti explained.

Finally, Ettore Pradini, president of the Italian agricultural association Coldiretti, called for the country to be declared a state of emergency, with two immediate priorities: increasing infrastructure for water storage and storage, and more efficient operation of cleaning machines for reuse. of water.
