Selected as one of the 50 best students in the world, Brazilian Lucas Tejedor told, in an interview with CNN that one of their strategies when studying is to learn concepts from practice instead of theory.
“Instead of staying there studying pure, theoretical mathematics, which I won’t use in practice, I prefer to study the exact same thing, just putting it into practice. For example, I develop artificial intelligence, and when you develop this kind of thing, you need to understand the math behind it”, explained the young carioca.
The international competition “Chegg.org Global Student Prize 2022”, which had almost 7 thousand entries, chooses students with projects focused on the environment and the fight against social inequality.
“My objective is to analyze public policies. Not only in Brazil, but my goal would be to take this to the world, to analyze public policies, to see exactly what each one means, how we can do to improve each one”, he reported.
Among the projects developed is an application to help people know where to recycle electronic waste. The student also designed a drone that, using artificial intelligence, can identify small fires.
“You need to act early on, because this is what will open the doors to your future”, encourages Lucas.
