Israeli tanks with special anti-drone “cages” like those used in Ukraine

Israeli tanks mobilized outside Gaza in view of a possible land invasion have been fitted with “cages” to protect them from drones, a security modification widely used in Ukraine and it appears to be multiplying in a new conflict, he writes in an analysis of the Washington Post.

The Post published images showing Israeli vehicles with modified covers, the purpose of which is to protect the soldiers inside from any explosives dropped by drones, the Jerusalem Post also notes, citing the American publication.

“My hypothesis is that the attacks by Hamas gave the Israel the push to install the cages more broadly,” Mark Cancian, senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told the Post.

“It was probably something they thought about beforehand, since everyone is following the war in Ukraine closely.”
