General Eyal Zamir, Head of the Staff of Israel’s Defense Forces, visited troops in Gaza on Thursday and threatened to expand the offensive if the hostages are not loose “soon”.
He stated that the Israeli army will continue to exert military pressure and strengthen control over the group when necessary.
Israel resumed its military attack on Gaza on March 18, after the collapse of a two-month ceasefire that had brought a brief truce to the territory controlled by Hamas.
Rescue teams and doctors reported that Israeli air strikes killed at least 55 people on Thursday (24).
An Israeli attack on an apartment building in the north of Gaza killed 11 people, including at least one child.
In another air offensive, Israel’s army attacked a police station in the Jabalia area in northern Gaza, killing nine people.
Since Israel resumed its military operations, 1,978 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, raising the total number of deaths to 51,355 since the beginning of the war, Gaza’s health officials.
