The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed a “strategic network of terrorist tunnels” in the center of Gaza City on Thursday (21), IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said at a press conference.
“The destruction of significant infrastructure degrades the strategic capabilities of the terrorist organization Hamas,” said Hagari.
A CNN cannot independently verify the Israeli military’s claims.
On Wednesday (20), the IDF released several videos that, according to them, show a network of tunnels that would be connected to the homes and offices of senior Hamas leaders.
In one such image, a camera descends a long staircase before continuing through a narrow arched hallway to reach a door.
In another video, a camera descends a long spiral staircase into another tunnel. Additionally, another clip identifies a passage to the tunnel network, hidden behind an electrical box.
