Israel: Netanyahu accuses Hamas of ‘rejecting everything’ in Gaza truce talks

Israel’s prime minister accused Hamas of completely rejecting all proposals tabled in the internationally-brokered talks aimed at achieving a truce in Gaza in exchange for the release of hostages held in the Palestinian enclave. “Hamas rejected everything and when we try to find (common) ground on which to start negotiations, they deny (and say) there is nothing to discuss. Well, I hope that changes because I want these hostages to be released,” Benjamin Netanyahu said at a news conference where he downplayed accusations that he insists that Israel retain control of a zone along the border between the Strip of Gaza and Egypt prevents negotiations from bearing fruit.
