Israel expressed confidence on Thursday (25) that the UN International Court of Justice will dismiss South African claims that the Gaza war amounts to genocide against Palestinians.
“We hope the court will dismiss these spurious and specious accusations,” spokesman Eylon Levy said at a briefing ahead of the court's scheduled convening on Friday to announce whether it will grant emergency measures against Israel.
Earlier this month, in two days of hearings, South Africa asked the court, also known as the World Court, to order an emergency suspension of Israel's devastating military campaign in the Palestinian enclave.
Levy also commented on British Foreign Secretary David Cameron's remarks that more aid needs to enter Gaza, saying “we draw your attention to the fact that Kerem Shalom has excess capacity for aid deliveries if international actors send it. ”
