“CIA Director William Burns is in Doha for meetings on the Israel-Hamas conflict, including hostage talks,” a US official said on condition of anonymity, the Athens News Agency reported, citing Reuters. He did not elaborate further.

Burns, Israel’s Mossad intelligence chief David Barnea and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani met with Egyptian officials a day after Qatar announced a two-day extension to the initial four-day Gaza ceasefire agreement, the who was expected to expire on Monday night.

Barnea and Burns had previously flown back to Qatar to meet Sheikh Mohammed on November 9.

There is no indication that Hamas intends to release Israeli men or military personnel

The first four days of the truce, Hamas released 50 Israeli hostages, women and children. In exchange, Israel released 150 Palestinian prisoners from its prisons, only women and teenagers.

As part of the two-day extension granted, Hamas agreed to release an additional 10 Israeli women and children each day.

So far there is no indication that Hamas intends to release Israeli men or military personnel among those it holds in Gaza.
