Israel Air Force Intercepta Missile released from Yemen

The Israeli army said it intercepted a missile released from Yemen on the morning of Thursday (20), local time.

The launch takes place amid the growing conflict with the Houthis, while Donald Trump threatens to punish Iran for his group support.

Israeli police said Sirens were heard in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem after the projectile was fired.

“A missile released from Yemen was intercepted by IAF before crossing to Israeli territory. Sirenes sounded according to the protocol,” the Israeli military said in a statement, referring to the Air Force.

According to the ambulance service, no serious injury has been reported.

The Houthis fired a ballistic missile towards Ben Gurion airport, near Tel Aviv, according to the group’s military spokesman in a televised statement.

The group has recently promised to intensify their attacks, including those directed to Israel in response to the US campaign.

The US attacks that began on Saturday (15), in response to the Houthis offensive to the Red Sea’s sea transportation are the largest US military operation in the Middle East since President Donald Trump took office.

Trump also threatened to blame Iran for any future attacks, warning of serious consequences. Iran’s revolutionary guard said the Houthis were independent and made their own decisions.

On Tuesday (18), the Houthis said they fired a ballistic missile against Israel and would expand their range of targets in the country in the coming days, in retaliation of the new Israeli air strikes in Gaza.

The Houthis have carried out more than 100 ships attacks since the Israeli and Hamas War began in late 2023, saying they were acting in solidarity with the Palestinians.

The attacks interrupted global trade and led US military to launch an expensive campaign to intercept missiles.
