Massimo Gravina lived in this area before the 2017 earthquake. Now he lives in another area of the island, but he was here immediately for relief efforts like his colleagues from the Ischia police station. «Actually last Saturday I was on duty in the afternoon, but when the calls from terrified people began to arrive at 113, our manager Ciro Re called us all right away to trigger the rescue. It seems strange, but until the day before it was sunny, nothing foreshadowed something like this…In front of us a lunar landscape, all covered by mud, on one side the houses were goneon the other they still existed but the landslide risked taking away even those with people inside».

He himself said that he reached eight people. «I took the four-year-old girl in my arms: she understood, she was scared but she clung to me and I took her downstairs. I’m quite a tough, tough guy, but living in such a situation in person breaks everyone’s heart ».
