Is the wedding dress too expensive? There are those who do it themselves (and in less than 200 days)

Everything, absolutely everything, for the wedding day must be absolutely perfect. There is no compromise on this, and not only when it comes to organizational aspects but also when it comes to your wedding dress. Unfortunately, however, dreams have to clash with the reality and many times the costs of the chosen dress can be prohibitive. A problem that the new bride espouses Monica Razak he remedied it in the simplest and most immediate of ways: she sewed it herself.

The 29-year-old American spoke on social media and at New York Post her story of how she made the dress with which she said the fateful “Yes”. It all started after falling in love with a dress worth over 10,000 dollars admired in New York by Kleinfeld, one of the most famous wedding dress shops in the world, a price that was too high mixed with a pinch of naivety because by her own admission she didn’t imagine that a wedding dress could be so expensive (without also considering any changes to be made to the chosen dress). So here it is she created her look from scratch which, as she herself says, cost her “only about 700 dollars”.

Many will ask themselves: are we talking about a skilled seamstress? Not really, although, as can be seen from the numerous videos shared on her TikTok channel, she has already tried her hand at other work behind the sewing machine to make sundresses, hair ties and other simple garments. However, these small accessories cannot be compared to the creation of a wedding dress from scratch and only a lot of creativity, mixed with just as much patience, have allowed Monica Razak to carry out a perfectly successful job.

Thus began the mission of the girl who made her dress in less than 200 days. First she tried on some models present in various boutiques, to decide on the line, and then she launched herself into the enterprise starting, obviously, from choice of fabric.

Many paper patterns, a noticeboard with all the photos from which to draw inspiration and a mannequin on which the dress came to life day after day were the companions of Monica who in the end managed to create a white draped strapless dress complete with pockets in the folds of the voluminous skirt.

A satisfaction for the “new designer” who got married in front of 30 guests in a location in New Jersey with much more than just a dress: «The security I had at my wedding, knowing that I had sewn the dress myself, cannot be bought», she says, and it is not difficult to believe her. Who knows how many other people will now follow his example.
