The result was influenced by the drop in fuel prices, particularly gasoline and ethanol, and electricity.
On the other hand, despite the record drop, the prices of the Food and Beverages (1.12%) and Health and Personal Care (0.81%) groups continued to rise, 1.12% and 0.81%, respectively. .
Bigger dips and highs
Three of the nine groups of products and services surveyed registered negative changes in August. The transport group had the biggest negative change (-5.24%) and the biggest negative impact (-1.15 percentage points) of the index, influenced mainly by the drop in gasoline (-16.80%).
In addition to the drop in gasoline, the decline in fuel prices (-15.33%) was caused by ethanol (-10.78%), vehicle gas (-5.40%) and diesel oil (-0.56%). .
