The Consumer Price Index – Weekly (IPC-S) advanced 0.42% in the second four weeks of October, after rising 0.26% in the first reading of the month.
The information was released this Monday (17) by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). The indicator accumulates high of 4.77% in 12 months, higher than the advance of 4.60% recorded in the first quadrissemana of October.
Six of the eight categories of expenses that make up the indicator registered an increase in inflation between the first and second readings of the month.
The highlight of the second four-week period in October was the Transport group (-2.20% to -1.59%), influenced by gasoline (-7.89% to -5.68%).
Food (0.13% to 0.44%), Housing (0.55% to 0.65%), Health and Personal Care (0.65% to 0.74%), Miscellaneous Expenses (0.13% to 0.19%) and Apparel (0.52% to 0.56%) also registered an increase in their rates of change.
In these classes, the items with the greatest weight were dairy products (-4.08% to -2.97%), residential condominiums (0.46% to 1.87%), hygiene and personal care items (0.75% to 1.09%), food for domestic animals (0.70% to 1.10%) and men’s clothing (0.48% to 0.74%), respectively.
On the other hand, the groups Education, Reading and Recreation (4.31% to 3.75%) and Communication (-0.52% to -0.65%) showed a decrease in their rates of change, influenced by the items airfare (19.86% to 17.19%) and telephony, internet and pay-TV combo (-1.39% to -1.71%), respectively.
