The death of Moïse Mugenyi Kabagambe, murdered in a kiosk in Rio de Janeiro last week, has had repercussions in the international press.
The Congolese man worked at the establishment and was assaulted by at least three men after asking for payment of late fees for services rendered, according to the victim’s family.
THE CNN had access to all the images of the kiosk’s internal circuit and decided to show the excerpts that show the ambush of Moïse. Assaults will not be displayed.
BBC International, a British outlet, claimed that Kabagambe was repeatedly ‘beaten’ by several men with ‘clubs and a baseball bat’ to death. The news produced in London also says that the victim continued to be attacked even immobile on the ground.
The American newspaper Washington Post guarantees that Kabagambe was the victim of a “bloodshed” in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The newspaper cites that the Congolese was beaten to death, despite knowing all the kiosk employees.
“Even in a country accustomed to random spasms of extreme violence, the alleged savagery of the beating left many Brazilians shocked and unresponsive,” the Washington Post wrote.
‘France 24’ declares that the ‘revolting’ murder is being investigated by the Rio de Janeiro police. As informed by CNNthe Parisian vehicle highlights that the Court of Justice has already decreed the arrest of three suspects for the death of the Congolese.
“Moise Kabagambe, 24, died on the night of January 24 at the bar where he worked in the upscale neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca, in the Brazilian beach town, according to authorities and family members. Kabagambe arrived in Brazil in 2011, fleeing the armed conflict that devastated his homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo”, writes ‘France 24’.
In Portugal, the newspaper ‘O Observador’ classifies the crime as “a brutal murder”. The text of the Portuguese newspaper, released this Monday (1), recalls the repercussion on the internet caused by the death, which generated the campaign #JustiçaParaMoïse.
