It occurred on Monday night (20) the 51st edition of the International Emmy . The award, considered the most important on television, focuses on productions made outside the United States, as the Emmy Awards usually honor what is done within the United States.
In this edition, seven Brazilian productions competed for the award, including “Pantanal” and “Cara e Coragem”, TV Globo soap operas.

Best TV Movie or Miniseries: “Mergulho”
“Mergulho” tells the story of diver Mariel, a diving professional. After a twist and a truth comes to light, the swimmer begins to wonder if winning is really her biggest dream. It is the second statuette from the film, which also won “Best Actress.

Best Actress: Karla Souza for “Mergulho”
The Prime Video film tells the story of Mariel, a professional diver who has her last chance at the Olympics.

Best Actor: Martin Freeman for “The Responder”
Martin Freeman, known for his work in “The Hobbit” and “Sherlock”, won the Best Actor statuette for the BBC police series “The Responder”.

Best reality show: “A Ponte – The Bridge Brasil”
The Brazilian reality show won best in the category in which it competed against “Hôtel du Temps: Dalida”, from France; “Love by AI”, from Japan; and the 13th season of the United Kingdom’s “The Great British Bake Off.”

Best Sports Documentary: “Harley & Katya”
The documentary about Australian skater Harley Windsor and his Russian partner Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya made by Stranger Than Fiction Films won the statuette for best sports documentary at the awards.

Best Soap Opera went to “Yargi”
Yeah, it wasn’t this time. Brazil competed in this category with “Cara e Coragem” and “Pantanal”, but the soap opera chosen was the Turkish soap opera “Yargi: Segredos de Família”.

Best comedy: “Vir Das: Landing” and third season of “Derry Girls”
And the winner of the International Emmy for Best Comedy went to…. two chosen! According to the organization, there was a tie between two of the nominees.

Best miniseries was “Des Gens Bien Ordinaires [A Very Ordinary World]”
The French miniseries won the category against “Linchamentos”, a Brazilian miniseries made by Record TV, about lynchings in Brazil. In “Des Gens Bien Ordinaires”, the world is a matriarchy where women symbolize power. The series focuses on Romain, an 18-year-old student who wants to become a porn actor.

Best Animation for Children: “The Smeds and the Smoos”
The series about “O Menino Maluquinho”, which competed for the award in Brazil, lost to the British animation “The Smeds and the Smoos”, which won the International Emmy in the category.

Best Program for Children: Live Action goes to “Heartbreak High: Where Everything Happens”
The Netflix series won the live-action version children’s series category.
