Internal Russian Court US citizen for psychiatric treatment

A Russian court, on Monday (14), ruled that a US citizen was not criminally responsible for his actions regarding an aggression to a police officer and determined that he was admitted to treatment in a Russian hospital, the Moscow Municipal Court said.

The service, in a statement published in the Telegram Message Application, said that Joseph Tater was acquitted of responsibility for the incident. He had been detained since August last year.

The court ordered him to undergo “compulsory medical measures in a medical institution that provides psychiatric aid.”

An earlier decision of the court stated that Tater was diagnosed with a mental disorder that requires hospital treatment.

Tater had been arrested and arrested for 15 days for a small act of indiscipline after being accused of assaulting employees of a hotel in Moscow, the accusation he denied. Subsequently, he would have assaulted a police, which resulted in a new criminal case.

According to state -owned news agencies, Tater entered Russia with the intention of seeking political asylum, stating that he did not consider himself a citizen of the United States and had faced persecution in the United States, and asked the diplomats present in the process that left the case.

Tater is one of several American citizens detained in Russia for a series of accusations.

Last week, Russian authorities released Russian-American citizen Ksenia Karelina, a Spa dancer and employee, who had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for donating a charity that assisted Ukraine.

It was exchanged by a German-Russian citizen that the United States accused of forming a global smuggling network to send sensitive electronics to the Russian army.
