Intel unveils the world’s most powerful PC processor with 16 cores and a frequency of 5.5 GHz

Formally, the announcement of the flagship processor Core i9-12900KS can be considered completed, but only now Intel has fully presented this extreme CPU. And, it should be noted, she did this after the release of AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 3D V-Cache memory technology. The Core i9-12900KS belongs to the Alder Lake desktop processor family and is considered the world’s fastest PC processor. It has 16 cores and 24 threads and a maximum clock speed of 5.5 GHz.

The new processor is very similar to the Core i9-12900K, except for the increased frequency. It also claims to support proprietary Adaptive Boost technology to improve performance during games. It has 44MB of cache (L2+L3), integrated UHD 770 graphics, and a TDP of 150W. The processor supports PCIe Gen 5.0 and 4.0, and is compatible with new DDR5 memory modules and existing motherboards with the Z690 chipset (uses the same LGA1700 socket and Intel 600 series chipset).

It’s also worth noting that the Core i9-12900KS is a fully unlocked processor. This means that gamers and overclockers will be able to further tweak the system settings and get more performance out of this processor. The Intel Core i9-12900KS will be available from April 5 for a suggested retail price of $739. It will be supplied both separately and in ready-made assemblies from various manufacturers.
