Inside the last red carpet of The Crown: the emotion of Elizabeth Debicki and William, Kate and Harry

«A beautiful staging of something we know very well», my English neighbor greeted the season finale – still top secret – which closes ten years of The Crown, that is, six iconic seasons, the last part of which arrives on Netflix from 14 December.

Meanwhile, on the London red carpet, which greets the brilliant creation of Peter Morgan, you can breathe air of nostalgia but also of great affection. We are at the Royal Festival Hall – Buckingham Palace is practically opposite, on the other side of the river – but here Queen Imelda Staunton arrives in trousers. How do you play The Queen when she’s no longer here? «With great respect», she replies, «It was a little hard, but yes, we moved forward. You don’t have to let that affect you, because otherwise you’re not doing your job.” A little further on Diana season 4 (Emma Corrin) meets Diana, aka Elizabeth Debicki, the one who told it gracefully in that last tragic summer. Both dressed in white, they embrace each other. «It was a profound privilege to play Diana», Debicki will say before the final screening, «It taught me a lot as a human being and it taught me a lot as an actress, and when this happens you feel a sort of double joy.”

Sir makes the funniest jokes Jonathan Pryce, aka Prince Philip. It’s then the turn of the future of the royal family, Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) and heir William (Ed Mcvey) arrive together. They are both in their first role, and they are certain that it will bring them luck. «To play Kate I tried to focus only on her in college». Meg revealed, “I didn’t look at Kate today to try to put some degree of separation.” On the red carpet, William stops at a certain point, looking for his brother Harry (Luther Ford). The two laugh, and take a photo together. It’s a truly lonely moment now from The Crown.

Netflix has divided the sixth and final season into two parts: the first four episodes – those of Diana’s summer 1997 – are already available, the last six which close the series arrive in mid-December. We stopped more or less twenty years ago. Peter Morgan was peremptory: there must be a certain distance, even temporal, between the English royal family and its Windsors. In the meantime Dominic West on the red carpet he says hello, but without stopping for interviews. He is still King Charles today.
