Industrial production grew in six of the 15 locations surveyed in October compared to September, according to data from the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production, released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In São Paulo, the largest industrial park in the country, there was a rise of 0.4%. The other expansions occurred in Pará (5.2%), Goiás (3.0%), Minas Gerais (1.7%), Rio de Janeiro (1.1%) and Rio Grande do Sul (0.5%). .
In the opposite direction, there was decrease in Ceará (-13.7%), Mato Grosso (-11.5%), Paraná (-9.1%), Amazonas (-8.2%), Northeast Region (-5. 7%), Espírito Santo (-5.3%), Pernambuco (-4.8%), Bahia (-4.6%) and Santa Catarina (-1.8%).
In the global average, the national industry rose 0.3% in October compared to September.
Comparison with October 2021
According to the IBGE, industrial production rose in seven of the 15 locations surveyed in October 2022 compared to the same month in 2021. In São Paulo, the country’s largest industrial park, there was an increase of 7.7%. The other expansions occurred in Mato Grosso (15.8%), Rio de Janeiro (6.5%), Minas Gerais (6.4%), Goiás (6.2%), Amazonas (1.8%) and Pernambuco (0.2%).
Rio Grande do Sul had zero change (0.0%). There were decreases in Espírito Santo (-20.7%), Paraná (-14.5%), Ceará (-11.9%), Bahia (-7.2%), Northeast Region (-5.0%), Santa Catarina (-2.7%) and Pará (-2.3%).
“It is worth mentioning that October 2022 (20 days) had the same number of working days as the same month of the previous year (20)”, stressed the IBGE.
In the global average, the national industry advanced 1.7% in October 2022 compared to October 2021.
