Industrial production falls in 12 of 15 surveyed places in September from August

Industrial production dropped in 12 of the 15 places surveyed in September compared to August, according to data from the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production, released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

In São Paulo, the largest industrial park in the country, there was a drop of 3.3%. The other reductions occurred in Santa Catarina (-5.1%), Paraná (-4.3%), Pará (-3.7%), Goiás (-2.9%), Amazonas (-2.9%) , Espírito Santo (-2.2%), Minas Gerais (-1.7%), Bahia (-1.3%), Rio de Janeiro (-1.1%), Mato Grosso (-0.4%) and Rio Grande do Sul (-0.2%).

In the opposite direction, there was an increase in Ceará (3.7%), Pernambuco (2.0%) and Northeast (0.6%).

In the global average, the national industry fell 0.7% in September compared to August.

Comparison with September 2021

According to the IBGE, industrial production rose in 8 of the 15 places surveyed in September 2022 compared to September 2021.

In São Paulo, the largest industrial park in the country, there was an increase of 0.2%. The other expansions occurred in Mato Grosso (37.5%), Amazonas (13.7%), Rio Grande do Sul (4.7%), Rio de Janeiro (4.4%), Northeast Region (3.4% ), Ceará (2.5%) and Pernambuco (1.7%).

In the opposite direction, there were losses in Espírito Santo (-14.7%), Pará (-13.4%), Paraná (-8.0%), Santa Catarina (-6.2%), Minas Gerais (-3 .6%), Bahia (-3.0%) and Goiás (-0.6%).

In the global average, the national industry advanced 0.4% in September 2022 compared to September 2021.
