A 16-month-old girl died today after being attacked by a leopard in a forest on the outskirts of the western city of Mumbai. India.
The child’s mother had taken her with her to worship in a temple, when a leopard attacked them, fatally injuring the little girl. Although he was rushed to the hospital, he was only pronounced dead according to the Athens News Agency.
It’s the second attack leopard in the area since the beginning of the month. A 4-year-old boy was injured three weeks ago, but survived. Last year, more than 10 people were killed by leopards.
The forest where the attack took place spans about 16 square kilometers and is located near the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. It is one of the few green lungs in Mumbai, the financial capital of India.
