Increased electricity tariffs for miners introduced in Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyz government has approved new electricity tariffs for the period from 2021 to 2025. Miners have been placed in a separate category, for which a multiplying factor of 2.0 is set.

According to the decree, the government of Kyrgyzstan recognized miners as a business with high energy consumption. From 2021, the tariff for them will be 2.52 soms per kWh, but with an increasing coefficient, miners will pay 5.04 soms per kWh. At the current exchange rate, this is approximately 4.33 rubles.

Also, an increasing factor of 1.5 was introduced for alcoholic beverage producers, gold mining enterprises, foundries and smelters. In addition, a multiplying factor has been set for cement plants, but such enterprises will pay 30% more.

The decree provides for an annual increase in tariffs taking into account inflation. Most of the tariffs increased by 12.5%, excluding the multiplying factors.

Note that at the end of August, a draft law on the regulation of cryptocurrency exchanges was presented in Kyrgyzstan, and in mid-September the first Universal Digital Exchange appeared in the country – this status was given to Envoys Vision Digital Exchange.
