Demonstrators, some with their faces covered, threw stones at a police squad blocking their way to the diplomatic facility in the wealthy neighborhood of Lomas de Chapultepec. Dubbed “urgent action for Rafa” on social networking sites, the demonstration was attended by some two hundred citizens, about 30 of whom tried to break and remove metal barriers blocking access to the Israeli embassy. Police in riot gear responded by firing tear gas and returning stones thrown at them by protesters, the AFP team found.
