The VKontakte team announced the launch of a new feature on the social network — the Trending Feed.
According to the developers, the new neural network is capable of analyzing millions of posts every second and automatically generates a feed with trends and a picture of the day. The algorithm at the heart of the neural network finds and identifies topics with a high potential for citation and discussion, and then automatically groups posts in a convenient way according to thematic topics.
The format of the stories helps to quickly get acquainted with the topic, and, if desired, dive into the selection in more detail. The feed collects posts not only from the media, but also from communities, bloggers, opinion leaders and other users: movie reviews, opinions about new products from the world of technology and games. Malicious content and misinformation are filtered out by spam analysts who review content complaints.
From today, everyone will be able to test the Trends Feed: it will become available in the new version of the social network’s mobile application and via a direct link throughout the day.
The VKontakte team plans to develop the product, monitor the experiment and feedback. At the first stage, the algorithm analyzes the most relevant and visible posts from communities and users. The depth of browsing sources and the number of topics will gradually expand.
