Even with the announcement of the end of the mandatory use of masks in closed places in the state of São Paulo, the City Hall decided to maintain the need to use the protection item against Covid-19 in taxis and app cars in the capital of São Paulo.
According to the decree published this Friday (18) in the Official Gazette of the city, a determination of April 2020 that requires the use of masks within the scope of the municipal passenger transport service remains in force.
The 2020 decree determines the mandatory use of masks for drivers, collectors and passengers of buses that are part of the Municipal Public Transport System, workers at municipal bus terminals, in addition to drivers and passengers of individual transport, such as taxi and apps.
The use also remains mandatory in places intended for the provision of health services. In other places, such as restaurants, shops, offices, classrooms and gyms, use is no longer required.
According to Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), the measure is possible thanks to the widespread vaccination against Covid-19 in the city. “We have 100% of adults vaccinated with both doses and 82.5% of children aged 5 to 11 years have already received the first dose,” he said.
Data from the Municipal Health Department show that the capital reached, on Thursday, more than 29 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19.
According to the municipal secretary of Health, Edson Aparecido, the hospitalization rates show a significant reduction and the epidemiological scenario contributes to this advance in the city of São Paulo. “We currently have 7% occupancy of the infirmary beds and 15% of the Intensive Care Units”, he said.
In the capital, vaccination coverage for the population over 18 years of age is at 110% for the first dose, 106% for the second dose, and 69% for additional doses.
