Specialists from ITMO University, together with Yablochkov, have developed a prototype of a wireless charging system for electric vehicles. Such equipment works on magnetic resonance communication, and its efficiency reaches 95%, that is, the energy loss is only 5%. Scientists hope to create a charger that can be placed right in parking lots and bus stops. Ideally, it will be able to fully charge an electric bus in 30 minutes.
According to RT, the prototype charging system consists of a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver is installed on the bottom of the electric vehicle during its factory assembly, and the transmitter is placed under the road surface. Between them, a magnetic field is formed, which allows you to transfer energy wirelessly. This means that it is enough to park the vehicle in the right place (at a distance of up to 30 cm), after which the battery will automatically start charging.
The unit has a capacity of 11 kW, but Russian specialists plan to increase it to 50 kW in the next six months. This will allow you to charge a passenger car in an hour. At the next stage, scientists want to bring the power of the station to 300 kW, and in this case, charging an electric bus or an autonomous loader will take only 30 minutes. Integration of the system at public transport stops will make it possible to recharge electric buses during boarding and disembarking of passengers. At the same time, bad weather conditions will not affect the process. According to the authors of the development, their wireless charging is more convenient, reliable and safer than wired counterparts.

Wireless charging stations for electric vehicles are being actively developed abroad. Such equipment is produced by the Israeli company Electreon, and in 2021, the Swedish automaker Volvo announced the testing of wireless charging technology for cars.
