In Russia, they are working on replacing Android. The new OS may be presented in August

The developer of the domestic software “NTC IT Rosa” is working on a new mobile operating system. If successful, it will become the second such project in Russia in this category. This edition of RBC was told by two sources in the market. Information about the development of “solutions for mobile devices” was confirmed by the head of the company Oleg Karpitsky. It is expected that the new operating system can be presented at the Army-2022 forum in August this year.

At the end of 2014, STC IT Rosa registered the rights to the Rosa Mobile software, although work on creating a mobile version of the program has been underway since 2011. Vladimir Rubanov, then head of the company, told the publication that they managed to make working prototypes with the new architecture, but work was suspended in 2014. Now in Russia one domestic operating system for mobile devices, Aurora, is officially registered, it is being developed by the Open Mobile Platform company.

The creator of LiveInternet German Klimenko believes that the OS needs to be created for a specific mobile device, you can’t take a ready-made smartphone and put a conditional Aurora on it instead of Android or iOS. In his opinion, there is no point in creating a fundamentally new system from scratch; it is more expedient to create a solution that can be installed on top for security purposes. Other experts believe that its own operating system is needed to replace foreign products in government agencies, but it will not have commercial success and is unlikely to enter the consumer market.
