In the shadow of the war in Ukraine and against the background of the search for alternative energy sources to ensure Europe’s energy security, the Tripartite Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Greece, Israel and Cyprus is taking place in Athens.
The enlarged talks in the framework of the Tripartite Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the three countries, Nikos Dendias, Gair Lapid and Ioannis Kasoulidis, started at 15:30 in the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are expected to focus on further cooperation. areas such as energy, civil protection, the economy and the fight against terrorism with the ultimate aim of promoting peace, security, stability and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean. The three ministers are also expected to address security challenges in the wider region, as well as the scope for expanding co-operation with other states.
After the end of the Tripartite, joint statements to the Press will follow around 16:15. It is noted that the tripartite Meeting follows the corresponding Meeting held in Jerusalem last August, as well as the Summit that also took place in Jerusalem last December.
Earlier, Nikos Dendias held one-on-one talks with the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Israel. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Israel also had a private meeting.
