In less than 12 hours, a new accident occurs where 25 people died in Bahia

On Monday morning (8), another accident was recorded on BR-324, near the city of Gavião, in the north of Bahia, where 25 people died in a collision between a minibus and a truck last night.

In the second accident in less than 12 hours, a passenger car, with three passengers, reduced speed and the driver in the vehicle behind ended up colliding.

The driver of the car in front would have tried to observe the movement that still exists in the area, related to the collision that occurred last night.

After the second crash, two people were taken to a hospital, without serious injuries, according to information confirmed to CNN by rescuer Vagner Gomes, from the Anjos Jacuipenses Volunteer Brigade.

The Federal Highway Police of Bahia (PRF-BA) closed a section of the road due to the first accident, but it was completely reopened at around 5:30 am. The head-on collision between a minibus and a truck, which was carrying a load of mangoes, caused 25 deaths at the scene. Six other victims were injured and were taken to hospitals in the region.

The bus was returning from a trip to Praia de Guarajuba, on the north coast of the state, and its final destination was the city of Jacobina. The city hall declared an official mourning period of three days and also confirmed a collective wake in the municipality.

The official causes of the accident are still being investigated and work continues to identify the bodies, which were sent to the IML.
