In Category 3, Cyclone Grace – Threatens Mexico again

Grace Tropical Storm became Category 3 cyclone and threatens – for the second time – the Mexican Gulf Coast, announced the American National Cyclone Center (NHC).

“Grace quickly became a major cyclone,” the NHC said, noting that last night (today at 06:00 Greek time) the “eye” of the phenomenon was 120 kilometers from Tutspany, in the state of Veracruz (east), and around it were breathing winds of up to 195 kilometers per hour.

The extreme weather phenomenon has already passed once the day before yesterday Thursday Mexico, crossing the Yucatan Peninsula, without any deaths or serious property damage.

Grace now threatens to hit Veracruz, an oil-producing state, with heavy rainfall (15-30 cm, even heavier in places) and very strong winds..

“We urge the public to be vigilant,” said Laura Velasquez, head of the Mexican Civil Protection Authority, during a joint news conference with President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador yesterday.
