Federal counselor of the Order of Lawyers of Brazil (OAB), criminal lawyer from Piauí Élida Fabrícia is being criticized after posting a video on a social network saying that “Valentine’s Day matches crime of passion” and that she “loves” this type of occurrence .
The video was published on June 12 and deleted hours later. The lawyer has nearly 8,000 followers on Instagram.
“Valentine’s Day coming up and it reminds me of those extravagant tastes of the criminal lawyer. […] I love crime of passion. I love when that hot, nice, well-formed process with a crime of passion arrives”, said Élida Fabrícia.
Due to the negative repercussions, this Tuesday (13), the lawyer posted other videos on the social network, stating that the repercussions are due to the negative image of her area of expertise in law.
“Criminal law, it is already seen, is already seen with enormous prejudice because we lawyers are on the side of those who are at a lower level, you know, of degradation”, he clarified.
In a note, the OAB Piauí stated that the lawyer’s speech “does not correspond with the institution’s thinking” and that it will activate the Federal Council, “who is responsible for investigating the case.”
“The institution, through all its members and members, is recognized for working to combat violence, especially violence against women, unfortunately this is so frequent in our State”, says the note from the OAB.
“The OAB-PI emphasizes that male and female lawyers work for Justice in respect for rights and are important actors in preventing major crimes.”
A CNN Contacted Élida Fabrícia to comment on the case, but has not yet received a response.
