The federal government revised 0.0% its forecast for the development of the economy this year, confirming estimates of stagnation. For the first time in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany, the economy will not grow for three consecutive years. According to government sources cited by Handelsblatt, the German economy is expected to remain stagnant for 2025, below the 0.3% still foreseen in January. For 2026, the government expects a growth of 1%, marginally lower than 1.1% of the latest prediction. The International Monetary Fund also revised Germany’s growth prospects, while in January it envisioned 0.3%growth. According to the IMF, Germany is the only country in the team of seven (G7) which will have stagnation in its economy this year.
