“I’m Still Here “, the new film by Walter Salles which was selected to represent Brazil in the competition for a place in the Best International Film category at the 2025 Oscars, made its debut in the United States. The film was shown on Wednesday night (9), at the prestigious New York Film Festival .
The event was attended by director Walter Salles and actors Fernanda Torres and Selton Mello. In the United States, the feature film will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics a company with a tradition of nominating its productions for Oscars.
It is worth remembering that the film has already been shown at this year’s Venice Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Screenplay, and also at the Toronto Film Festival. The film’s next stop will be at the prestigious AFI Fest, one of the main pre-Oscar events.
Based on the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva the film “I’m Still Here” portrays the Paiva family: father Rubens, mother Eunice and their five children. After suffering a brutal and unjust act of violence, their lives change forever.
Globoplay’s first original film, the film will make its national premiere at the São Paulo International Film Festival. Recently, Fernanda Torres was announced as one of the honorees of the association responsible for the Critics Choice Awards, one of the most targeted entities during the Awards Season.
