“I’m Still Here”: find out which Oscar categories the film is nominated for

At this point, “I’m Still Here ” almost needs no introduction. The long Walter Salles starring Fernanda Torres has spent the last few months touring various international festivals and finally arrives in Brazil this Thursday (7).

One of the main reasons why the production is one of the most talked about in the country is the fact that it was chosen as Brazil’s representative in the Best International Film category at the 2025 Oscars. But in addition to being an international film, the film also seeks to be recognized in other award categories.

Rodrigo Teixeira producer of “I’m Still Here”, informed CNN that the film’s campaign is focused on other Oscar categories, such as Best Actress for Fernanda Torres and Best Screenplay, an award the production won at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. The team is also seeking recognition in the main categories: Best Film and Best Direction.

In an advertisement released to award voters, the production is promoted for the following categories:

The poster also highlights important moments in the film’s trajectory, such as its screening and victory in the Venice Festival 2024, in addition to its participation in Toronto and New York. In the United States, it is Sony Pictures Classics which is handling the distribution of the feature film in the country, as well as its participation in the 2025 awards season.

“I’m Still Here” has also been attracting the attention of journalists specializing in Oscars. Scott Feinberg from The Hollywood Reporterhighlighted the film as a strong candidate in the categories of Best International Film, Best Actress for Fernanda Torres, Best Direction, Art Direction, Costume Design, Adapted Screenplay and Best Film.

About “I’m Still Here”

“I’m Still Here” is an adaptation of the book of the same name written by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, known for the book “Feliz Ano Velho” — a great sales success in the 1980s. The story takes place in the 1970s, in the most intense period of the military dictatorship in Brazil, and follows the trajectory of the Paiva family, made up of Rubens (played by Selton Mello), Eunice (played by Fernanda Torres) and their children.

The family’s life is completely transformed when, on one fateful day, Rubens Paiva is taken by undercover soldiers and disappears without leaving a trace .
