The iFood delivery app reported that from this Saturday (2) there will be a 13% increase in the minimum value of the route and 50% in the minimum value of the kilometer traveled for delivery people from all over Brazil.
That is, if the delivery person makes a short trip, he will receive at least R$6, instead of R$5.31 (as was the case before), while the value per kilometer traveled will increase from R$1 to R$1.50.
In this way, in the next 12 months, the company will transfer more than R$ 3.2 billion to couriers.
With the increase, couriers who work 169 hours per month will earn R$3,020 gross per month. In this case, the average net gain per logged hour will be 2.5 times higher than the minimum wage.
In a note, iFood reported that the adjustment will impact 50% of routes made by motorcycle and 70% of deliveries made with bicycles.
“Improving earnings was the most important demand that emerged from our constant dynamic of listening to the demands of delivery people”, says Claudia Storch, director of operations at iFood. “For us, this is one of the ways to value the work of our partners.”
Claudia also stated that the increase is due to high inflation and fuel prices. “Since 2021, we have seen that couriers spend more on their activity, that is, on fuel and maintenance, and lose purchasing power due to inflation. That’s why we wanted to make an expressive readjustment”.
