Two people are missing after an ice cave in Iceland collapsed on Sunday (25), killing one person.
Drone footage recorded on Monday (26) showed emergency services working at the site of the collapsed ice cave.
According to authorities, the ice cave was being explored by tourists when it collapsed.
The victims were part of a group of 25 members from various countries who were in the natural cave, located under a glacier, when the incident occurred.
One person was pronounced dead shortly after the incident as rescue crews conducted an extensive and difficult search for two individuals believed to be trapped beneath the ice, police said in a statement.
One person was injured and taken to hospital in stable condition, police said.
The nationalities of those involved were not immediately released.
The incident occurred at Breidamerkurjokull in southern Iceland, part of Western Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajokul.
