“I have faith in God”, says father of missing child in RJ; searches enter the 12th day

The Rio Fire Department and the Civil Police continue to search for the boy Edson Davi Almeida, aged 6, who has been missing since the 4th. This Tuesday (16), the search completes 12 days. The boy went with his father to Barra beach, in the West Zone of Rio, near post 4, where the family has a tent on the sand. He was playing with people at the place when he disappeared.

The main line of investigation by the Whereabouts Discovery Police Station (DDPA), responsible for the case, is that the boy entered the sea and drowned. There were currents and a surf warning on the day. The family disputes the possibility and believes that the child was kidnapped.

“I have faith in God. He will appear,” he told CNN the boy's father, Edson Almeida, this Monday (15).

Images analyzed by the police showed Edson Davi playing in the sand, close to the sea. In testimony, a witness stated that the boy entered the sea three times while playing with another child. There are also reports that the boy was warned by his father and an employee at the family tent not to enter the sea.

Firefighters look for Edson Davi in the sea and along the entire length of the sand strip. Drones, helicopters, watercraft, divers and tricycles are used. DDPA is also looking for the child and created a poster to gather information to help locate him. Investigators received several reports from similar children and none of them turned out to be true.
