“I don’t want the aggressors to live in the same environment as my daughter,” says Samara Felippo to CNN

In an interview with CNN this Monday (29), actress Samara Felippo said that she does not want to isolate the teenagers who practiced racism against her eldest daughter, “I just don't want the aggressors to live in the same environment as my daughter”, she reported.

Last Monday (22), two students took a notebook from the actress' eldest daughter, who is black, destroyed a piece of work she had done and wrote a racial slur on one of the pages. After identification, the school suspended the students indefinitely. However, Samara demands the expulsion of the students.

On Monday afternoon (29), Samara will participate in a meeting at Escola Vera Cruz, located in Pinheiros, in the west of São Paulo, to reach an agreement regarding the aggression.

“I expect really emphatic measures from the school that are consistent with the crime of racism. If we always relativize racism, it will be placed as second importance”, he told CNN .

Samara recalls that she has experienced other cases of racism with her daughters, but never to this intensity. The Vera Cruz School, considered a traditional and noble institution, is known for having anti-racist policies at the institution. The actress believes that the school “fails a lot in what it proposes”.

For her, academic institutions must monitor whether Afro-Brazilian education is being put into practice, whether there are comprehensive quota policies and must welcome black students so that they continue studying.

“May this serve as an example for other schools, may all students in the community see this as an example”, wishes the actress.

Actress Samara Felippo reported that her 14-year-old daughter was a victim of racism within the traditional Vera Cruz School, which is located in Pinheiros, in the west zone of São Paulo. Last Monday (22), two students took a notebook belonging to the girl, who is black, destroyed some work she had done and wrote a racial slur on one of the pages. Afterwards, the notebook was returned to the school's lost and found property.

The actress filed a police report. The Public Security Secretariat said that the case was registered as racial or color prejudice at the Electronic Police Station. “The case will be forwarded to the 14th DP (Pinheiros), area of ​​the facts, for appropriate measures”, concluded the department.

According to the actress, the girl herself reported it to the school coordination as soon as she saw the notebook. The school then opened an investigation to identify the perpetrators of the act, who only came forward after a threat to cancel a trip that would be taken by the students.

After identification, the school suspended the students for an indefinite period of time and decided that they could not participate in the trip. However, Samara demands the expulsion of the students.
